today we farmed out the kidlets and had a sew-and-talk-trash day (yeeeee-ah!).
it took a while but we settled on variations on the pleated purse theme. you know, the no pattern just cut it and make it up as you go sort.
in between the standing as close to the heater as possible, biscuits, coffee, soup & homemade bread (that didn’t rise – my fault) and we actually finished our projects!
MissSasla made a black and spotty bag. Sort of tote size, it’s spotty on the inside as well as the detail on the outside and it came out really cute, and of course perfect. MissSasla is an iron-pin-measure-iron-and-clip-every-seam before moving on type of sewer (secretly, i bet her seams are straight too, sigh)
for some reason i’m slower and i’m lucky to pin, just go for the hold it together as i sew method and measuring is not my strong point, however i felt quite seamstressy when i learned how to sew a box pleat. i made it reversible and i think i might like the green inside as an outside and the flowers inside better than the green inside as an inside and the flowers outside (??)

after all that it was definately time to brave the wintery weather for a coffee and cake and to wonder why the coffee shop was selling more ice coffee than hot coffee when it is 5degrees out.
i wonder if we count as a brown owl group with two members? i think maybe we’ll have to work on it
